After Burner 2

An enhanced version of Sega's After Burner released in 1987, once again led by Yu Suzuki. Retaining the F-14 Tomcat theme and the Super Scaler sprite-scaling engine, After Burner II added throttle control, extra stages, and a smoother difficulty curve, while preserving the iconic hydraulic deluxe cabinet. Produced in far greater quantities than the original, it became the version most players encountered and is regarded as the definitive entry in the series. It has since been ported to multiple home platforms including the Mega Drive and PlayStation 2, and later appeared as a cameo in Sega franchises such as the Yakuza series.
