Demon Sword

Released by Taito for the NES in 1990, Demon Sword casts players as a young warrior on a quest for the legendary blade of the same name, dashing and leaping through side-scrolling mountain and jungle stages. The hero can scale trees and cliff faces, and uses throwing weapons alongside magic for ranged attacks, giving movement a nimble, acrobatic quality. Collecting treasures progressively upgrades the melee weapon, and each stage ends with a distinct boss encounter.
