Final Mission

Published by Natsume in 1990 for the NES — known in North America as S.C.A.T.: Special Cybernetic Attack Team — Final Mission is a side-scrolling shooter starring enhanced soldiers Arnold and Sigourney. Each fighter is flanked by two orbital satellite guns that can be independently locked to fire in eight directions, with a button tap cycling between them for precise coverage. The game supports two-player simultaneous co-op and spans stages set in outer space, aerial fortresses, and the alien homeworld, each capped by enormous bosses. Its fluid orbital-gun mechanics and punishing difficulty have earned it a lasting reputation as one of the great hidden gems of the NES's twilight years.
