Ninja Gaiden III

Ninja Gaiden III is the third entry in Tecmo's NES Ninja Gaiden series and is renowned for its punishing difficulty. Players once again control Ryu Hayabusa, this time wrongly implicated in a murder and forced to unravel a sinister conspiracy involving biological weapons and an ancient spacecraft. The game preserves the franchise's signature cinematic cutscene storytelling while delivering densely packed stages, relentless enemy placement, and grueling boss fights. The narrative is darker and more complex than either predecessor, making it one of the most demanding — and dramatic — action games in the NES library.
