Top Gun

Top Gun is a flight combat game developed by Konami for the NES in 1987, based on the hit Hollywood film of the same name. Players take the controls of an F-14 Tomcat, completing aerial missions by locking onto enemy aircraft and engaging them with missiles and cannon fire. The game advances through a series of missions with escalating difficulty. Its most notorious challenge is the aircraft carrier landing sequence, which demands precise management of descent speed and glide angle — a gauntlet infamous for frustrating countless players. Top Gun remains a fondly remembered, if devilishly difficult, piece of NES history.
