Yume Penguin Monogatari

Yume Penguin Monogatari is a side-scrolling action game released by Konami for the Famicom in 1991. The hero is Penta, a portly penguin dumped by his girlfriend Penko for being overweight — who then watches helplessly as the villainous Ginji kidnaps her. To win her back, Penta must shed the pounds and mount a rescue. Across multiple stages, players dodge tempting foods that add to Penta's weight while picking up diet pills to stay slim. A live weight counter is displayed on screen at all times; let it climb too high and the stage is lost. The game's quirky blend of action platforming and weight management gives it a humor and charm entirely its own.
