Adventure Island

Adventure Island is a side-scrolling action game released by Hudson for the NES in 1986, starring the stout Master Higgins, who must cross tropical jungles, caves, icy peaks, and other varied stages to rescue his girlfriend Tina from an evil witch doctor. The defining mechanic is a constantly draining stamina gauge: health depletes non-stop, requiring players to collect scattered food items to keep going or risk losing a life. Tomahawks and stones can be hurled at enemies along the way, and certain stages allow riding a dinosaur for extra help, demanding quick reflexes and smart route management.
