Antarctic Adventure

A pseudo-3D endless runner from Konami, originally released for MSX in 1983 before arriving on the Famicom in 1985. Players guide the penguin Penta across the Antarctic continent, dashing between research stations while leaping over ice crevasses, dodging seals, and snagging flags and fish for bonus points. Each leg of the journey is timed, and the entire run is accompanied by a cheerful arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. The game's simple, addictive loop made it an early Konami fan favorite, and Penta went on to become something of a company mascot, making cameo appearances in several later titles.
