Romance of the Three Kingdoms: Heroes Biography is Koei's strategy RPG adapted for the NES. Playing as Liu Bei, players follow the narrative of Romance of the Three Kingdoms from the campaign against Dong Zhuo through to the restoration of the Han dynasty. The game replaces traditional domestic management with chess-board-style tactical combat, keeping the focus squarely on battlefield strategy. Each general possesses unique skills, and defeating enemy commanders allows you to recruit them into your ranks. The final chapter delivers an idealized alternate-history ending in which Liu Bei successfully accomplishes his dream of restoring the Han imperial dynasty.
