Asterix

Konami's 1992 arcade beat-'em-up adapts Goscinny and Uderzo's beloved French comic series. Players choose between the compact but ferocious Asterix or the enormously powerful Obelix, both supercharged by the druid Getafix's magic potion, as they pummel their way through waves of Roman legionaries. In two-player co-op, one Gaul can pick up and swing the other as a living weapon. Levels span Gaul, Rome, Greece, and Egypt, with Roman centurions and Julius Caesar himself as boss encounters. The game faithfully captures the comics' slapstick humor and exaggerated cartoon combat, making it one of the most charming licensed brawlers of the early 1990s.
