Der Langrisser

Der Langrisser, published by NCS in 1995, is a strategy RPG for the Super Famicom and a sequel in the Langrisser series. Players command Prince Ledin as he leads armies against demonic forces and a powerful empire. A defining feature is the faction alignment system — at key campaign junctures, players can side with different factions, unlocking entirely different story branches and endings. Combat revolves around a unit type counter system, and commander units can direct surrounding soldiers to execute coordinated attacks, adding considerable tactical depth. Multiple diverging storylines and demanding tactical maps cement it as one of the most celebrated strategy RPGs on the Super Famicom.
