About this game
Double Dribble is Konami's 1987 arcade-to-NES adaptation of five-on-five basketball. Players choose from four fictional national teams and compete through four quarters of action, executing dribbles, passes, jump shots, and steals. Slam dunks trigger dedicated close-up full-screen cutscene animations — a cinematic flourish rarely seen on the NES at the time. The opening arrangement of The Stars and Stripes Forever employs synthesized speech and ranks among the first digitally sampled vocal performances in NES history. Brisk AI and intuitive controls made Double Dribble the gold standard for 8-bit basketball.
