Softstar's 1995 sequel returns to the matriarchal kingdom of the original. A newly crowned empress faces immediate betrayal by neighboring nations and renewed demonic scheming, forcing players to balance political alliances, palace intrigue, and a relentless series of battles. The strategy engine is overhauled with refined grid terrain, a unit promotion system, equipment crafting mechanics, and significantly expanded character dialogue. VGA portrait art and MIDI compositions both see a marked quality improvement, and branching storylines with multiple endings add considerable replay value. The game is widely regarded as one of the defining works of the Chinese-language strategy RPG golden age of the 1990s.
