Nintendo's 1994 SNES tactical RPG and the third Fire Emblem installment, divided into two books. Book 1 remakes the original Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, while Book 2 continues the saga as Prince Marth leads allied forces against the seemingly treacherous Hardin and confronts a reincarnated Medeus. Turn-based combat plays out on grid maps with weapon-type advantages and permanent character death upon defeat. New mechanics — including canto movement and dismounting — deepened tactical play, while a greatly expanded roster and story arc made Mystery of the Emblem a pivotal milestone in the series.
