Ganbare! Daiku no Gen-san

A Super Famicom entry in Irem's Gen-san series, released in 1993 as a console spin-off of the arcade hit Hammerin' Harry. Players guide carpenter Gen-san — clad in his trademark work gear — through colorful side-scrolling stages, swinging an enormous wooden mallet to flatten waves of thugs standing between him and home. Core moves include crouching, jumping, and multi-hit combos, while the mallet doubles as a tool for smashing environmental hazards. Power-up items boost its damage output. Levels span construction sites, town streets, and exotic international backdrops, rendered in vibrant colors with exaggerated, slapstick animation that exemplifies Irem's everyman-hero approach to the action-platformer genre.
