Gunple: Gunman's Proof

A Super Famicom action-adventure developed by Lenar and published by ASCII in 1997, released exclusively in Japan. A young boy is possessed by a cosmic gunslinger deity and sets out to liberate a small 1880s frontier town from alien invaders who have taken its residents captive. The top-down perspective, town exploration, dungeon puzzles, and quick-draw showdowns are all strongly reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda. Humor runs throughout, blending Wild West and sci-fi settings in an absurd yet charming package. Despite its limited original audience, the game gained much wider recognition years later through a fan-made English translation patch.
