Ikari II

A Famicom port of SNK's 1986 arcade game Victory Road and the direct sequel to Ikari Warriors. After rescuing their general, the two commandos are warped to an alien planet and must battle their way to freedom. Combat is top-down with eight-directional rotary fire, limited ammo pickups, and an assortment of grenades. Rideable mechs appear occasionally across stages, providing brief but devastating bursts of firepower, while the enemy roster has been upgraded to heavily armed alien elites and reinforced gun emplacements. Punishing difficulty and scarce continues faithfully carry forward the uncompromising arcade spirit of its predecessor.
