Ikari III

A Famicom port of SNK's 1989 arcade game Ikari III: The Rescue. The two commandos are deployed on a new mission to free the president's kidnapped son from an international terrorist organization. For the first time in the series, hand-to-hand combat is introduced: a dedicated button lets players switch between punches, throws, and weapon-disarming moves alongside the familiar top-down gunplay. Stages span a waterfront, a jungle, snowy mountains, and an enemy base, with ninja-style assassins and mercenaries in the ranks and a giant monster boss at the finale. The blend of gunplay, grenades, and unarmed combat gives this entry a distinct identity within the trilogy.
