Jurassic War

A 1996/97 DOS real-time strategy game with prehistoric fantasy trappings in the spirit of Warcraft. Players command one of eight primitive tribes that have landed on a Jurassic island to fight for dominance. Rather than conventional resource gathering, the economy revolves around food: warriors hunt wild animals and haul meat back to granaries. Units gain experience to level up and can equip weapons or items; ordinary tribespeople can evolve into warriors, mages, and other advanced classes. Each tribe offers a distinct combination of magic, technology, and tamed dinosaur cavalry, fielding spearmen, archers, and dragon riders. Fast-paced skirmishes and meaningful strategic depth set it apart from most Warcraft clones of the era.
