Kirby's Adventure

A side-scrolling action game developed by HAL Laboratory for the Famicom in 1993. Kirby sets out across seven worlds to reclaim the Star Rod, stolen from the Fountain of Dreams by a shadowy force. The game introduces the series' signature Inhale-and-Copy mechanic: swallowing an enemy grants its ability, with over twenty transformations on offer — Fire, Sword, Wheel, UFO, and more. The final gauntlet pits Kirby against the masked swordsman Meta Knight and the hammer-wielding King Dedede. Bright cartoon visuals and an upbeat soundtrack established the tone for the entire franchise, and the game is still regarded as one of the most technically polished platformers the Famicom ever produced.
