Narcissu 1st & 2nd

A minimalist visual novel written by Tomo Kataoka, with death as its central theme. The first chapter follows a terminally ill narrator who meets Setsumi — a young woman equally crushed by illness — on the seventh floor of a palliative care ward. Together they steal away in his father's car, driving from Tokyo to Cape Shionomisaki at the southernmost tip of Honshu in near silence, with only the sea wind for company. The second chapter is a prequel depicting Sister Himeko's journey accompanying Setsumi toward her end, filling the gaps left by the first story. Sparse piano music and recurring road imagery run throughout, making Narcissu one of the most emotionally affecting works in the ONScripter visual novel genre.
