About this game
Taito's Operation Wolf, an iconic arcade light-gun shooter from 1987, was ported to the Famicom by Taito itself in 1989. Players take on the role of a lone commando infiltrating enemy territory across six successive stages — a communications base, jungle, village, weapons depot, prison camp, and airport — with the objective of rescuing hostages. Enemies swarm in from all sides of a fixed screen, forcing players to aim and fire while dodging grenades and gunfire; ammo and health can be replenished from dropped supplies. The Famicom version replaces the arcade gun with the d-pad to move the crosshair, and stands as a landmark early step toward mainstream first-person shooting.
