Pokemon Gold

An unofficial NES port produced by Chinese pirate manufacturers, adapted from the Game Boy Color title Pokémon Gold. Starting from Professor Elm's lab in Johto, the player chooses one of three starter Pokémon and sets out to defeat eight Gym Leaders, dismantle the schemes of a resurgent Team Rocket, and ultimately journey to Kanto for a showdown with a rival. Hardware limitations resulted in downgraded visuals and simplified audio, yet the port retained the day/night cycle, the Pokémon Egg breeding system, and nearly a hundred species introduced in the generation. It remains one of the most iconic unlicensed Chinese-language cartridges of the 1990s, a staple of childhood memories for a generation of Chinese gamers.
