Romance of the Three Kingdoms 5 is Koei's 1995 DOS entry in their long-running Three Kingdoms strategy series, set amid the turbulent collapse of the Eastern Han Dynasty. Players govern a warlord, building agricultural, commercial, and technological strength while recruiting and nurturing both civil and military officers. Diplomacy and warfare are the twin pillars of the campaign to unify China. This fifth installment introduces an officer special-ability system that gives each general a more distinct personality and battlefield role, substantially deepening strategic complexity and replayability compared to earlier entries in the series.
