About this game
Shikinjou is a puzzle game released for the Famicom in 1991. Players control a jiangshi — the hopping vampire of Chinese folklore — across a top-down grid, shoving mahjong tiles into one another: when two tiles bearing the same symbol collide, both vanish, and the goal is to clear a path to the stage exit. Complicating matters are special honor tiles such as the Wind Dragon, which cannot be moved and will convert any ordinary tile pushed against them into their own type, reshaping the puzzle layout. The Famicom version features two exclusive visual themes — knight and ninja — and its stage design ramps up difficulty steadily, rewarding careful planning.
