Space Invaders

The GBA version faithfully recreates Taito's landmark 1978 arcade shooter. Players control a cannon at the bottom of the screen, moving left and right to blast waves of aliens descending in tight formation from above. As enemies are eliminated, the survivors accelerate, steadily ratcheting up the tension. Four destructible barriers provide cover but erode under sustained fire. Simple, intuitive rules combined with the relentless pressure of an ever-closing alien armada defined the fixed-shooter genre and left a profound mark on video game history. The GBA port preserves every element that made the original a timeless classic.
