The Goonies

Released by Konami in 1986, this NES side-scrolling action game is based on the Hollywood adventure film of the same name. Players guide the protagonist through six stages to rescue all seven members of the Goonies gang, each held captive by the Fratelli family. Every level requires collecting keys to unlock iron gates while evading patrolling enemies and assorted traps. Stages span diverse environments — caves, warehouses, and ship cabins — and both the sound design and level structure faithfully capture the film's sense of adventure, making it one of the most celebrated early licensed adaptations on the NES.
