Three Kingdoms Heroes Chronicles

Released by Softstar Technology in 1996 for DOS, Three Kingdoms Heroes Chronicles is a strategy RPG that retells Romance of the Three Kingdoms from the perspective of Liu Bei's faction. Each general can command one to four squads, with units progressing through ranks from common soldiers over time and equipment available for purchase at towns between stages. Resource management is critical, and the difficulty is notably high. However, the generals feel underdeveloped — their stat differences are minimal and their personalities lack distinction. As a result, it is widely regarded as one of the more underwhelming entries in Softstar's Three Kingdoms game series.
