Volguard II

A vertical scrolling shooter for the NES developed by UPL, Volguard II is the sequel to the arcade game Volguard. Players pilot a high-mobility starship through multiple planetary and deep-space stages, repelling waves of alien invaders. A ship transformation mechanic lets players switch between forms to adapt to shifting combat situations, while various weapon upgrades substantially increase firepower.
