Spartan X

Known in the West as Kung-Fu Master, Spartan X is a classic side-scrolling beat-'em-up developed by Irem in 1984 and later ported to the Famicom, licensed from the Jackie Chan film released in Japan under the same title. Players guide hero Thomas up a multi-floor building, battling a constant stream of grapplers, knife-throwers, and kickers, with a boss guarding each floor. Controls are minimal and intuitive — directional inputs paired with a single attack button cover every situation — but tight pacing and escalating difficulty demand precise timing. It remains one of the most iconic action titles in the Famicom library.
